ACC Stars’ Words Of Wisdom

Mahela Jayawardene: “Learn your own style of play. Find out what works for you. Take bits from the best players but never just copy them. You can learn a lot just by watching. For example, look at Brian Lara’s confidence every time he goes out to bat, look at Rahul Dravid’s balance and composure, look at Aravinda’s fearlessness. Add them all up and you’ve got a pretty good chance.”

Zaheer Khan: “Never give up. Keep doing the basics. Never lose sight of what you want to achieve.”

Anil Kumble: “Back yourself. Results will come. Don’t be afraid to be unorthodox.”

Mashrafe Mortaza: “A cricketer must always have discipline. They must practise. They must always do maintenance.”

Muttiah Muralitharan: “The most important thing is having fun, if the fun thing’s gone out of it, it’s almost impossible to play well.”

Ashish Nehra: “Be positive. Start fitness work at the age of sixteen.”

Kumar Sangakarra: “The one thing you can control is how hard you work on a daily basis. You can’t control the weather, the wicket or your parents but you can control that. Work harder than you think possible.”

Virender Sehwag: “You must have self-belief. Be positive. Love the game, love practise, give everything you can. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, the important thing is to make the most of your gifts. You can play for any team that you want. Always be analysing.”

Yousuf Youhana: “It’s all in the hands of God. All you can do is give your best.”

They wore our shirts with pride. We are proud to represent them.
