The ACC Under 19 Eastern Region – one of the series of regional qualifiers for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup. Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, Bhutan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Myanmar will go against each other for a spot closer to qualifying for the cup that will be held in New Zealand. Three venues housing these qualifying matches have been announced: Kinrara Oval, Bayuemas Oval and Club Aman.

Bayuemas is a cricket field within a suburban area in the Selangor south of Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur. It is part of the Sime Darby Sports Complex which also consists of Bayuemas Indoor Bowls Stadium and Tun Ahmad Sarji Indoor Cricket Stadium. This oval is operated by Malaysian Malays Cricket Association (MMCA).

Built: Built on a total 9.05 acres, the ground was completed in August 2003 after two years of work. With local red clay used for the wicket block, the pitch may be a little slow but provides good bounce. A relatively high sand content in the clay aids spin bowling. It was established in 2004, designed and constructed by the New Zealand Sports Turf Institute. It features like saucer for excellent drainage system, but the initial design of the Bayuemas Oval was never planned to be that way. In fact, it started with a sketch from an association member, Mass Yusoff of Utusan Melayu, that was printed in the 1999 annual report. This ‘idea’ was never discussed further but unknown to many, it had caught the attention of Tan Sri Ahmad Sarji (now Tun Ahmad Sarji). He then spoke to the CEO of Golden Hope Plantations Berhad, Datuk Abdul Wahab Maskan. Within the same premises now also stands the Tunku Jaafar Malay Cricket Academy.
