2006 ACC U-15 Cup (Elite Division) - MALAYSIA v HONG KONG

On winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Hong Kong were rocked by the spirited bowling of Malaysia.

Muhammad Fazly picked up two quick wickets leaving Hong Kong at 12 for 2 after 4 overs. Zuaid Khan (36) and Ashish Badhiya (30) managed to pick up the pace as well as the score and they eventually brought the total to 104-6 in 46 overs. Muhammad Arifin (4-13) and Ahmad Zahid (3-18) stopped the visitors in their tracks as their last five wickets all feel for single digits. Ultimately, Hong Kong managed a total of 117 all out in 53 overs.

Malaysia got off to an excellent start. Openers Keithan Goonasagaran and Zubair Asyraf put up a fifty partnership. Contributions were made by most players with five of them scoring over 20 but none really able to push on to a big score. Zuaid Khan (3-42) and Mark Chapman (3-40) collected the wickets for Hong Kong. Malaysia finished at 201-9 in 59 overs with a lead of 84 runs.

The second innings saw the Hong Kong batsmen collapse in a heap. Niaz Ali was the Top scorer with just 10. Muhammad Arifin (4-15) once again did the damage. Hong Kong were all out for 50.

The result gave Malaysia their second win, this time by a thumping innings and 34 runs.
