AFGHANISTAN KNOCK SRI LANKA OUT OF UNIMONI ASIA CUP 2018

Media Release
17 September, 2018

Afghanistan opened their Unimoni Asia Cup 2018 in style winning against former champions Sri Lanka by a margin of 91 runs, bringing to an end Sri Lanka’s run in the tournament.

AFGHANISTAN PLAYER OF THE MATCH, RAHMAT SHAH:

“We are feeling very happy because this was a must win game for us. We already knew that Sri Lanka had lost one match so we had a great chance to qualify to the next round. We have performed well and won the match and we are very excited to be in super four.

SRI LANKA CAPTAIN, ANGELO MATHEWS

“To be honest I don’t have any answers, it was very disappointing. Batting was the main reason on both occasions, we didn’t pass the 150 mark on both occasions, we are a much better team than this and this was a shocking performance.”
