Group B: Iran v UAE at Tudhiikel

The Emirates team confirmed their pedigree with a massive 336 run victory over neophytes Iran.

Watched by a crowd in excess of 1000 people, the UAE batsmen revelled in the crisp conditions with all but one of them making double figures. Opener Shehan Dharmasena anchored the innings with a solid 109, allowing the flamboyant middle order to bat with freedom around him. Rameez Shahzad (52 off 40), O. Hameed (38 off 43) and Shoib Sarwar (40 off 22) all made hay against a tiring Iranian attack.

Chasing 375 at 7.5 an over, Iran were up against it from the onset with both openers dismissed in the first two overs. A steady stream of wickets fell from then on as the UAE frontline bowlers Sarwar and Muhammad bowled unchanged and took five wickets apiece.
