Group C: Oman v Qatar at Birendra Sainik Maha Vidyalaya Ground

Qatar struck an important blow by defeating Oman by 81 runs, to leave Group C wide open. Theoretically al four teams still have a chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Batting first, Qatar struggled against Oman’s change bowlers and from a position of 59 for 2 slumped to 141 all out. Ali Bilal and Mohammed Imran took three wickets apiece. Faisal Noor made a gutsy 56.

Oman would have fancied their chances casing 142 at less than three an over but Qatar’s pace-bowling allrounders spearheaded by Kamran Khan had Oman rocking from early on. His pace and bounce had all the Omani batsmen struggling and his figures of 4-16 do him full justice. All the Qatar bowlers played their part and were ably supported by their fielders. Oman could only score 48 runs off the bat in 32.2 overs as Qatar won this match by a long way.
