Group B: Oman v Singapore at Tribhuvam University Ground

Singapore pulled off a gutsy victory against Oman to secure their quarter-final berth, winning by just two wickets.

Singapore did well to limit Oman to just 129 as only Ahmed Al-Balushi and Mohammed Imran with a late flurry managed to get a grip on Singapore’s penetrative attack. Mayank Dalakoti reeled off the remarkable figures of 10-8-3-4.

Chasing Oman’s 129, at one stage Singapore had lost four wickets for no run as Oman’s fast bowlers gave all they had in their own quest for victory. Singapore’s 36 for 6 became 57 for 7 in the sixteenth over and Oman were scenting the victory that would take them to the quarter-finals.

Singapore’s eight-wicket pair of Vignesh Balasubramaniam and Jackie Manoj knucked down however and over the next twenty-two overs, considerably aided by some pressure-reducing wides, took Singapore to the brink of victory. Their partnership of 63 turned the match around. Although Manoj fell with ten runs still needed, Dalakoti came in to ensure that victory wouldn’t slip from their grasp.
