Bahrain v Qatar at Bayumas Oval, Kuala Lumpur

A match which either team could have won, had Qatar sneaking home by seven runs in a game between two evenly-matched teams.

Bahrain teams will look back on the match as one of missed opportunities for at 134 for 4, chasing 176 with 17 overs left, the match was theirs for the taking. Gautam Kumar and Danish Jasnaik were playing fluently but then a double-wicket burst by Ibrahim Zahoor turned the match and Qatar were right back in the game.

An eighth-wicket stand of 16 revived Bahrain somewhat, but runs off the bat dried up amidst increasing tension with only wides keeping the score ticking over until the last batsman was caught behind in the 41st over.

Earlier Qatar had been indebted to captain Dean Britto's flamboyant 72 off just 55 deliveries (eight 4s and two 6s) for boosting their score as the remaining batsmen struggled to come to terms with the conditions and the Bahraini bowlers. Wides (28) was the next highest score after Britto in the Qatar innings, and that was where the game was ultimately lost by Bahrain.
