Patrick Bowls Like A Saint

Nishil Sawlani of Hong Kong bowling to Vivek of Oman at Sharjah Stadium

14-year old Jason Patrick of Kuwait took the honours on Day Three of the U-15 Cup when in a remarkable spell of bowling, he took 5-22 in eight overs to help his team beat Thailand.

All his victims were bowled, as the youngster generated remarkable pace through the air and off the wicket. K.K. Haridas, ACC Event Executive, remarked, “He kept attacking the wickets and showed the virtue of bowling straight.”

The pattern of the side batting second winning in each occasion continued, with Hong Kong, Kuwait and Nepal all winning in their matches against Oman, Thailand and Afghanistan respectively. All three winners have booked their places in the quarter-finals.

Oman became the first side to bat out their allotted 40 overs, and would have expected their target of 164 to be a challenging one for Hong Kong, but a total of 23 wides and some lusty hitting by Irfan Ahmed (46 off 32 balls) saw Hong Kong reach their target with 4 overs to spare.
