HONG KONG, CHINA’S COACHES MAKE MORE COACHES

Hong Kong, China has just completed another Level I Coaching Course, this time with the most eminent group of coach educators yet. ACC Development Officer Aminul Islam, along with Hong Kong, China’s Director of Cricket Charlie Burke, Men's Assistant Coach Jawaid Iqbal, Women's Coach Najeeb Amar and Assistant Coach Chris Pickett as well as HKCA Development Officer Rob Lee, and National Squad Bowling Coach Simon Cook, took 31 emerging coaches through their certification process. "There is a real energy and commitment in Hong Kong, China for cricket and these coaches are on the first steps of what can be a productive career," says Aminul.

The 31 participants included school teachers, national cricketers and club coaches and the four-day course across three venues "was as testing as any Level I that I have witnessed," says Aminul. 11 of the coaches were native Chinese, which highlights the potential for growth in the region. "This course had the best quality Level I coaches we have had in Hong Kong, China during my time overall (since April 2010), the active participation, questions and overall knowledge of the game was exceptional. I have no doubt that out of this group we will have some very good coaches for the future and I look forward to supporting these coaches build on their knowledge and understanding of coaching,” says Charlie Burke.
