Brilliant All-Round Performances By ACC Team

Karachi, May 22: The Select ACC U15 team touring Pakistan showed why they are truly the best young cricketers outside of the Test-playing nations of Asia when they displayed brilliant form during the first day’s play of their final tour match against Karachi Gymkhana.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss Karachi Gymkhana despite good batting by Bilal 104 and Ahmed Bashir 41 were skittled out for a paltry 187 runs in 57.3 overs. The ACC captain, medium pacer Irfan Ahmed (Hong Kong) bowled superbly taking four wickets for 34 runs in a deadly spell of 10 overs. Left-arm spinner Sarawana Raj (Malaysia) and off-spinner Abdul Rashid (Malaysia) took two wickets each in the testing twenty overs they bowled together.

In reply, ACC U15 batted superbly with Dipen Shreshta (Nepal) 72 and Muhammad Shafiq (Malaysia) 50 putting on a swashbuckling 126 runs for the first wicket. But both the batsmen were sent back to pavilion by off spinner Yousuf who extracted some sharp turn off the wicket. James Atkinson (Hong Kong) and Mohammad Kasman (Malaysia) batted solidly to carry their side to 152/2 in 30 overs without further damage till close of play.

The ACC XI will be looking to build up a substantial lead by the afternoon of the next day in order to force a victory.
