ACC U15 Register Exciting Win

Karachi, May 19: The Select ACC U15 XI won their second match of the Pakistan tour when they beat A.O. U15 by 30 runs in a day-night match under floodlights at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.

Winning the toss, ACC skipper Irfan Ahmed (Hong Kong) decided to bat first. But Asia U-15 were restricted to 185 all out in 49.5 overs. Muhammad Shafiq (Malaysia) batted stubbornly to make a good 58. He was ably supported by Prem Dadlani (Singapore) with 20, and James Atkinson (Hong Kong) with 17, Irfan Ahmed made 14, as did Mohammad Kasman (Malaysia).

Ijlal Tariq the tiny right arm leg spinner of A.O. bowled with nagging length to capture 5 wickets for 53 runs in 12.5 over. Ayazuddin 2 for 42 also bowled well.

A.O. U15 started disastrously losing 7 wickets for only 69 runs on the board, 5 of their batsmen getting run out. Then Faizan Yousaf (26) and Muhammad Azam (16) stopped the rot adding 47 runs for the eighth wicket. Azam was then bowled by skipper Irfan Ahmed for 16. Soon his partner Faizan Yousaf followed him caught behind by Atkinson off Kasman for a patient 26. Soon A.O. U15 succumbed to 155 all out with medium pacer Irfan Ahmed taking 3 for 44, Dadlani 2 for 35 and Kasman 1 for 50 causing the major batting land slide. Muhammad Shafiq was declared Man of the Match.

At the conclusion of the match Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik, Chairman, Anticorruption Establishment, Sindh, and a former I.G. Police gave away the prizes. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik complimented Asian Cricket Council for sending the youthful cricketers from the new emerging Asian cricketing nations to Pakistan for exposure and to gain experience at international level.

Mr. Iqbal Sikandar, Manager Asia XI expressed his appreciation for the excellent arrangements made by the CCA for the tour. He hoped that his cricketers will return home with good experience. Prof. S. Sirajul Islam Bukhari Secretary, KCCA, praised Dr. Ali Asghar Shah for allowing the cricketers from Asian countries to gain experience by playing under flood lights. He hoped that when these cricketers go home they will be richer in experience.

A.O. U15: - 155 all in 44.5 overs (Asadullah 28, Faizan Yousaf 26, M. Azam 16, Razi Abid 13 n.o. Irfan Ahmed 3 for 33, Prem Dadlani 2 for 35 and Mohammad Kasman 1 for 50).
