IRAN GOES INTERNATIONAL

Iranshahr, a city in Sistan & Baluchistan Province in south-eastern Iran, bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan with the Gulf of Oman to its south, recently completed Iran’s first international cricket tournament between eight local and foreign teams.

Champions Chabahar beat an Afghan side in the Final

“There was fierce competition,” a local correspondent says, “amongst the teams from Afghanistan and Pakistan and Chabahar. In the Final both Chabahar and Afghanistan displayed some extraordinary cricket skills.  Eventually the cricket giants from Chabahar beat Afghanistan in the final.” The Afghan team wasn’t the official national side which is currently preparing for next month’s World Cup Qualifier but another representative side. Two teams from Karachi joined ‘Afghanistan’ and the five Iranian sides in the event.
