Smitha Harikrishna demonstrating the forward defensive

Delhi Private School along with DPS-Insportz Academy staged the first ever double-wicket tournament along with a sixes tournament for girls schools in the region last month.

Organised by former UAE international Shahzad Altaf along with a host of tireless volunteers, former India international Smitha Harikrishana was on hand to guide and inspire the youngsters.

Megan Smith, ICC Project Officer for Women's Cricket who attended the event, said. 'The double wicket competition is a fantastic initiative and a good opportunity to broaden cricket's reach and encourage female participation in the UAE".

The sixes final was won by St. Mary's Dubai off the last-ball of the match.
