NEPAL CATCH THE SPIRIT AND THROW IT OUT THERE

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has released a promotional music video to celebrate the ICC Centenary in association with Nepal Tourism Board.

The 350-second video is called Mero Desh Pyaro Nepal (My Country, Lovely Nepal) with the music composed and sung by popular star Pramod Kharel.

“The music video is prepared to inspire nationalism through cricket,” said the director. “We tried our best to develop sense of belongingness in the eve of the ICC World Cricket League Division 5 tournament,” (in February 2010) he added. “The video also used footage from Nepal’s victory in the ACC U-17 Elite Cup in Kathmandu.”

CAN President Binaya Raj Pandey said that the music video is produced to celebrate 100 years of ICC. “Last year, ICC instructed all the member nations to do something to celebrate the occasion, and we decided to produce a music video,” he added. “As far as I know, we are the only country to produce a music video,” to mark the occasion said Mr. Pandey. Sung in Nepali, it is available to watch on youtube.
