Hong Kong and Oman have been preparing for their critical Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 3 encounter in January with tours of Sri Lanka. “It’s an ideal way to get match-sharp for the tournament, the players will get some tough opposition and most importantly for Oman, get familiar with turf in some excellent facilities,” says ACC Development Officer Rumesh Ratnayake.
“It’s a very important tournament for us,” said Oman Cricket’s Rex Berhardt, “not just because we have a member of the royal family playing and thus success will undoubtedly have an impact in the country, but also because Division 2 is in the UAE which is a great opportunity to get back to Division 1 as we once were.” Hong Kong were first to be in Sri Lanka in January; their coach Charlie Burke called the tour a “huge success…the players got so much out of this trip and have allowed us the opportunity to be well planned and ready for Division 3.”
