The fourth ACC Coach Educators course was conducted in February, in Singapore for 25 Level II coaches from 14 different ACC member countries. "The intention of the Coach Educator program is to improve the communication and assessment skills of these coaches, so that they are being taught how to coach rather than what to coach," says ACC Development Officer Iqbal Sikander. "We want to encourage coaches to think about what makes them most effective to the new coaches they will be bringing forward into the game."
The seven-day course covered topics such as the teaching of the fundamentals of skill acquisition, bio-mechanics, management, sports fitness and communication skills. “The intention of the Coach Educators Program is for the Level II coaches to go back to their countries and create the next generation of coaches,” says ACC Development Officer for Singapore Roger Binny who co-ordinated proceedings.
