Pakistan raced to a thumping eight-wicket victory over African Associate qualifiers Uganda in their opening match of the U-19 World Cup.

Uganda were rocked in the very first over as their star batsman Roger Mukasa, the tournament’s youngest player at 16, fell leg before to Jamshed Ahmed. A brief recovery was staged but four wickets fell in the space of five runs, Akhtar Ayub taking three, and at 25-5 Uganda’s bolt was shot.

They finished on 74, a total much boosted by 18 wides and Pakistan though themselves under a little pressure at 2 for 2 in the second over, knocked off the remaining runs in just ten more overs.
