Malaysia Cricket talks to Mr Sultan Rana, the ACC Events & Development Manager who is here at Kinrara Oval for the SEA Games KL 2017 Cricket tournaments.

“ACC plays an important role in opening up possibilities for emerging cricket nations to practice, prepare and improve their skills to play against test countries.”

Starling cricketers have the ACC platform to experience playing against professional players, who are stronger in their game, better trained and more experienced. To be the best, you have to test yourself against better players, says Sultan.

He adds that Malaysia is one of the few countries that has very good infrastructure to host international tournaments such as this. Furthermore, Malaysian Cricket Association has a good record of organizing international tournaments and other high profile international games. Usually, the ACC looks to test playing countries to organize such events, but in the past Malaysian Cricket Association has been very successful as host and organizer of our events and the ACC is happy to award the tournament to them.

The winner of the ACC U19 Eastern region will qualify to play in the U19 Youth Asia Cup slated for November 2017, that will see another champion from Western region and other test nations on the pitch.

Sultan further says that ACC has lined up numerous tournaments in cricket developing nations in Asia to generate interest among the youth as well as increase participation in tournaments at local, regional and international level.

As Manager for ACC’s Events and Development, Sultan reiterates that from his personal standpoint, the only way to challenge yourself is to play with the best.
