Chinese Taipei Starting
ACC Development Officer Aminul Islam has completed his first visit to new ACC member Taipei, primarily “to understand the current status of cricket activities in Taiwan as they apply for ICC Affiliate status.” During his visit Aminul met with the Chinese Taipei Cricket Association, the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee and local cricketers.

Looking Ahead To Longcheng
Chinese Cricket Association Deputy Secretary General Zhang Tian has been to Chaoyang, a city in the north-east of China in Liaoning province on the border with North Korea, and reports back with news of a potential new growth area for cricket. “I am quite optimistic on this line of growth for the players,” he says.

Burmese And Thais On A Good Wicket
Four curators from Myanmar and Thailand will be in Sri Lanka during the ICC World Twenty20, furthering their knowledge. They will be part of the ground staff at the Pallekele Stadium for 17 days around the ICC event, taking in five of the matches.

Duleep Mendis Front-Runner For Oman Coach
Former Sri Lankan captain, national team manager, and Sri Lanka Cricket CEO and Chairman of Selectors Duleep Mendis is among the three names that have been shortlisted by Oman Cricket to coach the national team ahead of the ACC Trophy Elite in the UAE in October. Former Pakistan international Asif Mujtaba and former Sri Lankan first-class cricketer Lantra Fernando are also on the shortlist.

Teams Ready For U19 World Cup
A journey that started in Thailand in February 2011 at the ACC U-19 Elite Cup for Afghanistan’s and Nepal’s Under-19 cricketers reaches its climax in Queensland, Australia this month with the ICC U19 World Cup. The journey took them to Ireland last August where they came through a Qualifier in the top six out of a field of ten other ICC Associates and Affiliates. They join the ten Full Members in this year’s World Cup, having taken on four of them in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup last month.
