Supreme Group, a supply and logistics company for the international armed forces in Afghanistan, will be sponsoring the country's cricketers at the ICC World Twenty20.
In the agreement, signed in Dubai, Supreme Group will be supporting Afghanistan for a six-figure USD sum at the World T20. Supreme Fuel Trading's Director of Operations Gilbert Kearns said that while his company's sponsorship is initially just for the Event in the West Indies, it could be extended for a further twelve months.
"It took just moments for us to decide to do the deal," said the ebullient Supreme Group Managing Director Stephen Orenstein. Supreme directly and indirectly employ more than 13,000 Afghan nationals, and expects to spend more than US$500 million this year in the local economy. ACB CEO Dr. Shinwari expected that those employees "would now work even more passionately for Supreme Group....the cricket team is supported passionately in Afghanistan and around the world and Supreme Group will now be recognised in the country even more."
